Put any five reviews you like in your F.Y.C. list.
Do not use reviews from the previous round: you must change them every round.
Post here to declare that you've done it: sooner is better than later.
Provide spoiler warnings in your post when appropriate.
Read the F.Y.C.s of all participants.
The next round starts on Monday at noon or later, F.W.F.R. time.

Lemmy in for #1279

Murder Obsession—Actor Michael and his girlfriend, along with some colleagues, visit his mother (a widow whose musician husband died mysteriously a few years earlier) who lives in a creepy, isolated mansion with only a factotum named Oliver. It soon becomes evident that their relationship holds some strange secrets.

Are these our Children? —Eddie, a hardworking ‘good kid’ fails to make the finals of his high school oration competition and spirals into a dissipated lifestyle fuelled by alcohol and ‘fast’ friends. A precursor to Reefer Madness, with booze instead of dope.

Nuit #1—the first few minutes of this French-language Quebec film consist of two strangers frantically dancing at a loud club. Cut to them in his apartment frantically copulating. The rest of the film presents them talking introspectively for hours. Sort of a horny, reverse gender Ma nuit chez Maude.

West Point—William Haines plays Brice Wayne, a cocky army cadet who lets down the Corps and the football team out of selfishness and disregard for the rules. Haines was immensely popular in the late silent period and his friendship with co-star Joan Crawford bears a striking similarity to that of Montgomery Clift and Elizabeth Taylor some years later.

1930s

NB:
Retired detective Nick and his wife Nora drink a lot of alcohol during the comedy/mystery "The Thin Man".
Beulah Bondi plays a matriarch separated from her husband by their selfish children in "Make Way For Tomorrow".
Leslie Howard falls in love with a conniving and unfaithful Bette Davis in "Of Human Bondage".
"Lost Horizon" is the classic novel about the discovery of Shangri-la.
"The Awful Truth" sees Cary Grant and Irene Dunne trying to get a divorce while still being in love with each other.
