Being as computer literate as a bag of snow I must rely on my fellow fwfr's to help me differenciate this thread from the normal FYCTH??
Suggestions welcome on the back of a beer mat... or here.

Beany the issue with having a separate themed FYCTH is that users only have 1 FYC page.
I generally leave my voting to the last night of the round to ensure getting everyone in one hit. If you institute a new themed round as a separate entity then the rules on the fyc would have to be changed or the 2 competitions would be have to compete for contestants/paticipants.
I would hate to see the FYCTH be watered down by another competition using the same features.
If you move to having one of the rounds as a themed round then, as CL said in the other thread, you risk putting off newer members who don't have the relevant films in their 'collection'. Having some of the original FYCTH rounds with optional themes would work but then not all users will either want or be able to take part!
Just my humble opinions
cheers

I'd say start an Theme FYC on Saturday and give everyone an entire week to read them.
Having three FYCs that wrap up after two or three days in one week would take up too much time.
I have a lot of new reviews that I want to pimp. If there was only one FYC a week and the other was a theme, then I can only showcase five reviews a week. Also, some newbies with only 200 to 400 reviews may be limited by not having any reviews that apply to the theme.
It was Salo's idea so I say he gets the final say on how to do this. He should just read everyone comments, then make a decision. |

I don't see a problem with having a renegade FYC. Users would have a choice of whichever one they wish to join. Maybe the theme one should run at the same time as one as the others, that way you can still take part in two FYCs a week. |

I concurr Mr Cat.
That was the issue of my plea, to see if we can get around this problem of the one page for fycth.
I have no wish to compete, alter or take away from FYCTH at all.
I was just trying to propose (or was it Salopian??) if we could try out a alternate and extra version to see what the reaction we could get??
And how we could do it. I.E do it by category of film genre, or choosing a particular movie as the theme for a week or an actor/director/writer/cimematographer...etc.
Again if this aint feasible ...well...it aint feasible!! |

I think that we should leave the FYC page for the FYCTH feature. A theme-based version could be a stand alone feature with reviews linked within posts.
Main issue as Beanmimo states is who decides on each week's successive theme? |
