It's becoming a more and more common occurrence that undeniably non-films are being added to the site, despite the automated checks I put in place to avoid this. The problem here is largely that the IMDB doesn't always correctly classify entries or doesn't provide enough information to determine one way or the other. As fun as these entries may well be to write fwfrs for, they simply don't belong on a purported film-related site.
So... in order to curb this, I've started this thread where we can post non-films (or discuss borderlines) for possible blockage from the site.
I'll get the ball rolling so you can see the sort of thing that's being added that really shouldn't be...
60th Annual Tony Awards, The 2007 NFL Draft 2004 World Series Naked News Harry Potter in the Hood American Eats Denise Austin: Fit And Lite
There's a fair few more so feel free to add to this list
I don't know Harry Potter in the Hood - but if its a short film doesn't that still apply?
pmfji - and I, too, wouldn't want short films to disappear from the site. But, according to imdb Harry Potter in the Hood is a music video - not exactly the same as a short. Music vids are commercials.
benj - I think this is a terrific decision.

I agree. I was happy to add some of these while the rules were just that things had to be 'films' on the I.M.D.B., but I'm happy for specific ones to be disallowed too. Are you going to make it automatic so that once removed entries cannot be re-added?
On music videos, are cases like Thriller still going to be allowed?

Yep- there'll be a list of disallowed films kept in the database.

It's partly for cases like that that I decided to set this thread up for discussing. If a decent argument is made for it being classed as a film then it stays.
I'd argue an exception in this case as it has a strong connection to a well-respected fwfr member.
Hhmmm, I'm not sure that's a very good reason. Shall we include all BaftaBabe's T.V. programmes too, and perhaps a couple of books that I have written?
There's someone who - in the style of Jamie Oliver's Naked Chef - calls himself The Hardcore Chef, but he doesn't make sex-vids, he makes or made a cooking vid. Here's a review of one which makes it clear that even though imdb calls it a documentary, it's just a cooking video.
If we're going to start disallowing some things which the I.M.D.B. classifies as films, please could we start allowing some things which they don't? What I have in mind are miniseries. Some, e.g. Porterhouse Blue, are listed as films and so can be here already while others, e.g. First Born, are listed as T.V. programmes and so cannot. Once released on D.V.D., they stop being a miniseries in any meaningful sense. (Unlike other series, they do not have any kind of episodic story arcs.)

I have to agree with Salopian on this one I'm afraid- there's really not any argument I can see to justify keeping this entry. Plus it's not like we're removing all said fwfr member's entries on the site- they do have other film credits.
Okay, the non-film blocking is now in place. So far, the following have all been expunged from the site and will be stopped should anyone try to add them again in the future. If anyone has any objections please let me know asap as any of these could be revived if need be...

Also, for anyone interested, reviews are not deleted but declined as being non-film entries (as requested by Salopian).
