Tobey Maguire and a fine piece of horseflesh help advance an arresting tale of post-wreckage redemption.

SEABISCUIT

Abbreviated rules (re)borrowed from here to encourage some new entrants .... or old ones back.

The Rules

The first line of a haiku poem has five syllables.
The second line has seven syllables.
The third, and final, line has five syllables.

The Movie Haiku Contest (MHC) is open to every member of the FWFR site.

To enter, all you have to do is think of a Haiku for the current movie, then post into the current thread. Simple as that. Also, haikus may be risque, but nothing explicit please.

Only one entry per person as per The Blevins Rule. However, you are allowed to edit your existing entry until 9pm Tuesday FWFR time.

Voting.

If you have entered the MHC, then you have to vote. If you do not vote, you'll lose 3 points from your total, and jeopardize your entire future in this week's contest.

You do not have to enter the MHC to vote. Vote away. This category has been hurting for partidipants/voters!!

---------------------------------

For each round, you get to vote for your three favorite haikus. The voting is as follows:

3 pts fwfr a
2 pts fwfr b
1 pt fwfr c
--------------------------------

You may vote only once
You cannot vote for yourself.
You can vote for the previous winner

You vote by sending me your votes in a PM (Private Message).

When the voting deadline ends (9pm Wednesday 16 DEC FWFR time), the votes are tallied and the top three places are announced.

Four men and a horse?
More like one mans tragedy
And a drug fuelled Nag.

At first, the case for
Seabiscuit was lame. Seemed it
was a biscuit case

A horse is a horse
Of course, of course. Except when
rode by Spider-man.

By the time my votes passed the finish line, everyone else had gone home

Anyway ... dunno 'bout you, but I was waiting for Clay's haiku!

PS Falkten/Falken ... great to see you back on da board! We've missed you.

Sorry, Kids, I was too preoccupied to Haiku my own topic. The voting for the Great Limerick Contest is STILL going on! (See my topic in the "Other" folder of Games & Contests for details.) Had I entered, it would have been:

Lamed horse, lamed rider
Blamed Fate, but Courage Doubled
Claimed the prize for them.

Coming in a strong third, gaining on the outside in the back stretch, a strong Show, was Falkten, with 3,1,1,1.

Placing, that effervescently Galloping Gal, BaftaBabe, who garnered the countdownesque 3,2,1.

And in the Winner's Circle, leading wire to wire, that determined mudder, Sludge, with 3,3,2.

Sludge, well done! Speechify us, please, and choose the next subject!

Wow. Considering how many fwfr's the film inspired, surprising not to have seen more entries here. Thanks for your votes. I will do my usual 5 minutes of research and get back with #185.
