While it's probably true that nothing much happens in Indiana, this week we've had our touch of Hollywood. It's no small secret that I'm a huge Johnny Depp fan, so it's been a banner week for me, with Depp, who is playing John Dillinger, in Crown Point filming Public Enemies. So a friend and I bundled ourselves up and trekked off to Crown Point, along with a few other diehard fans. When he first arrived on set, which is the Lake Country Courthouse, he stopped and waved, then acknowledged the crowd by clasping his hands together, bowing his head and pressing his hand to his heart. He's a much prettier John Dillinger than the original. After spending the day filming, he came out to the waiting crowd, and spent the next hour walking down the street and around the block, shaking hands with everyone, all the way to the end. It's been rainy and chilly and nasty this week here in the heartland and to me, it was ultimately classy for him to take the time to acknowledge the people waiting to even get a glimpse of him. He didn't have to, it wasn't required, and he seemed truly appreciative of the turn out. And I touched him. I could just die. So to answer the accolade question I asked, yes, I still would. As a matter of fact, I'm that woman they were trying desperately to detach from his leg.
