What happened to Johnny Depp as The Riddler??

And why not just let Halle out of the cage as Catlicklady (as long as she purromises to act).

I think I've devised a plot for the next Batman film which cleverly works around Heath Ledger's absence:

It's Christmas in Gotham City, and all seems to be well until the Joker starts orchestrating mass chaos from some remote hideout using a group of dress-alike henchmen who terrorize the downtown shoppers during the holiday rush. In his most daring stunt, the Joker manages to release a green, foul-smelling toxic gas into the air over the city. The gas is coming from an undisclosed location. No one can figure out where it's coming from until Batman manages to capture one of the Joker's henchmen and beat a confession out of him. Batman goes to the factory which is the source of the toxin and shuts it down, but in the process he is nearly overcome by the toxic stench, which permeates his costume to the point that it has to be destroyed. Recuperating at home, Bruce Wayne enlists the aide of his new ward, Dick Grayson, to carry on his work. Grayson adopts the guise of Robin and tries to fight the Joker's minions but fails utterly and is killed. Batman, newly invigorated with rage and wanting revenge, decides to go to war with the Joker once and for all. He builds an all-new Batmobile and cruises the streets of Gotham thwarting the Joker's henchmen at every turn. But one of them manages to attach a bomb to the left front tire of the Batmobile, and it detonates during a thrilling climactic chase scene. In the end, a battered Batman manages to bring the crime spree to a halt, but he is unable to catch the Joker who apparently disappears without a trace. The end.

My working title: Jingle Bells, Batman Smells, Robin Lays An Egg, The Batmoblie Loses Its Wheel, and The Joker Gets Away.

riddle me this: what's the fastest way to lose credibility on a successful franchise?
