I was somewhat surprised to see this wasn't already on fwfr, which usually suggests nobody here has seen it. Well, you know what to do about that now, don't you?
It's a French/Israeli drama following the life of a 9-year-old Ethiopian Jewish boy from shortly before his arrival in Israel into adulthood, covering his relationship with other Israelis and his cultural assimilation (and lack of it). It dramatises a slice of Israeli history that I was unfamiliar with (I'm assuming the very positive reception in reviews suggests it's generally historically accurate). Although somewhat over-sentimental in places, it's not by much and not for long.
I don't often feel the need to hold onto a DVD and lend it to others before returning it, but this is one of them. I'm rather curious as to why this one seems to have slipped under the radar.
I give it 8/10 (which also happens to be the IMDb score).
