Everyone put on your leg warmers and your shoulder pads. Take your Sony Walkman and listen to Wham! and Thriller album. Make your way to the cinema and watch Breakfast Club and Top Gun.

This week's avatar is a time warp to the eighties. I would like to start with the recognisible icon of the 80's, Pacman

Mampers "wish he was the kid of the 80's"

My "Best of the '80s":

ORIGINAL (pre-"New") Coke (NOT the same as "Classic," which is a facsimile only!)
Pole Position
Zaxxon
Hill Street Blues
Dragon's Lair
MTV (yeah, the original with actual videos!)
Graduating high school
Starting college
Graduating from college
Walkman
California Coolers
Bartles & Jaymes
New York Seltzers ('specially root beer and concord grape)
Losing virginity! ( . . . and they said it couldn't be done!)
Asia (the band)
Berlin Wall comes down
All the awesome movies! (Far too many to even attempt to name the best!)
Trivial Pursuit
Rocky Horror Picture Show ('70s movie, but '80s phenomenon!)

. . . probably more later! . . .

I liked your avatar Bife but I would go with Foxboy in that it say's '70s rather than eighties. Mampers' Pacman is more typically eighties. I think Pong (or Ping as it was known in the states) must have come out in '76 or '77. By 1978 we had Space Invaders, followed by Asteroids and the first colour video game Galaxian in 1979. I can't argue with statistics though and will not demand a recount unless it is performed in Florida by my buddies.

Like it sean - I don't have anything better, so I'll go with theft

Thanks for the votes guys - my second 'retro games' win, I won with a spinning rubik's cube, must be nearly 18 months ago now

How about a relatively non-specific action or an emotion rather than an object or noun? Something allowing serious inventiveness?

Eg, one of these:-

Theft, or
Hesitation, or
Regret.

etc.

Okay, okay!

Will be back tonight with a new topic.

Feel free to post suggestions here in the meantime

It's a legit win, bife. Even with 3 points to bass (or me ) you would have had 17 to our 15.

Yep, if you look at the vote breakdown, you'll see a "-3" so we already knew that you didn't vote and had 3 points removed.

I'm sure I had that game in the 70's too.

Put on your acid wash Guess jeans, pull your leg warmers up over your checkered Vans, slip your Miami Vice sports coat over your OP t-shirt, cinch up your skinny tie and put down your suitcase sized boom box because if youll check your Swatch, it's time for results...

In third place, with 9 points (3,3,2,1)...

With voters this avatar went o'er-well...

Falken !

In a second place tie, with 12 points each (3,3,3,2,1) (3,3,2,2,1,1)...

With a cheesed rap crew and a some teased crap 'dos...

Cheese_Ed and basselope !!

And in first place, with 14 points (3,3,3,3,2,2,1,-3)...

He paddled the competition...

bife !!!

Bife, you are now the only member of the 9 win club so put on your Members Only jacket! What a Thriller! You're no New Kid on the Block, you know the routine, so get on up here and announce the new topic so we can '86 this one.

Is that really you? And did PETA protest that picture?

I can only wish I ever had such ornamental hair! And PETA didn't just protest. They threw paint on those people's heads!
