the Alt key on the keyboard. What does it stand for. Does it stand for a word? I never really thought about it before. I might use it for a review. Could the ALT key stand for the word Alternate??? Anyone have any idea? I googled around a bit. But nothing helps out.

Edit: Sorry put this in the wrong general thread.

It actually is related to the key's function, which can be used in conjunction with other keys to alter the default function within a programme. Most users either won't have a clue about this or could care less. The Control key can be used for this, too, and less often the shift key. [nerdass]

I dunno, we never had all this palaver with the parchment and quill

Incorrect. Originally, the third set of characters on any given key - the ones accessible with the AltGr key - were printed in green.

Go figure.

Me, I'm still trying to find the "ANY" key.

Not sure this is really 'FWFR Related', but yes, it stands for alternative.
