First of all - very impressive. Thanks, I really enjoyed watching that and yes, I think you did have the right ending.
Now, if I may be so bold... perhaps it was watching it on a computer, but the bedroom scenes were too dark to see everything going on. That's my only criticism.
(Consider yourself lucky - I'm very critical of just about everything!)
I agree. I had to compress the video a lot in order to put it on the Internet. On a TV screen, those scenes actually look the best.
Thanks for watching everyone! |

Just another opinion here, but I thought the darkness of the bedroom was important to the meaning of the film. You see, Josiah was dieing and slipping away. Whereas, the television program that was showing his greatest achievement was very bright in contrast. Geez, just thinking about it makes me tear up, so it had to be effective!
I wouldn't want it to be bright and sunny, but just less dark enough to see what was going on.

Damn, I guess a happy ending would have been lame. Those 'roids will gitcha! But at least Josiah died happy.
Yeah, the director and I had a big discussion about the ending. I wasn't sure if he should die at the end because its a radical change of tone from the lightness of the rest of the film, but the director insisted upon it because he said that the happy ending is too predictable and one of the points he was making with the film is that life is unpredictable. I think we chose the right ending. |

Posted - 08/31/2008 : 01:01:01 Your editing shines head and shoulders above all the other key elements of the film. I really hope you find material to match what is clearly a very good instinct for the precise cutting moment! Well done!

Well, it's certainly better than THE ENGLISH PATIENT but probably not quite up there with CITIZEN KANE. Just my opinion.
What does your analyst say about your "running" obsession?
