Each week I have to suffer X Factor, I am very lucky to be able to watch what I want for the rest of the week but Saturdays are X Factor.
But after last nights terrible decision Mrs cat has decided that it's all a fix that the judges are spinless wimps, rather Simon Cowell is a spinless wimp and she has lost interest in the whole thing.
I am hoping that she still feels the same next week and that she does not now switch her allegiance to Strictly Second Raters Come Dancing garbage.
Happy days

At least Strictly (that's "Dancing with the not-really Stars" to you folks across the pond) has a modicum of skill, entertainment, and the delights of Tess Daly and Ola Jordan to ponder.
It's required viewing in this house (mainly because of Mrs C and Babybear) and a whole lot more enjoyable than X-Factor and Simon bloody Cowell.

I love Strictly!
Now, if only BBC Prime would put on the latest seasons of that, I'd be a happier camper. I do miss it. Only got to see seasons 1-3, and really liked it. Mind you, since I don't know as many of the British personalities and people in the UK do, I'm sometimes unaware of who the star is and who the professional dancer is. Well, until they get on the dance floor, anyway.

Posted - 11/10/2009 : 22:52:04 The thing that really scares me is not that people watch the show for entertainment, but that the winner actually sells records. And lots of them. The fact that people like the music is just baffling to me. Like BiggerBoat said, it makes me question the nation's intelligence.

Congrats JTC, I wouldn't want my worst enemy to have to sit through an episode of that shit. I was made to watch it with some family (which I'm now questioning) members a few weeks back, and I found it hell on earth.
Quite how anyone can be interested in a show that promotes smugness, blandness and mediocrity in such a sickeningly dramatic way is utterly beyond me. Without wanting to sound dramatic myself, it really does make me question the intelligence of my fellow humans.
My current flatmate is a musician in a rock band. He sings, plays several instruments and writes. His knowledge of bands and music in general is astounding for someone his age. His band play great, catchy tunes and yet he's on the dole and struggles to have enough money for food every week. Meanwhile these dolts with average voices (but egos the size of Mars) are lauded around the land because they're on prime time TV.
bb, I have been sucked into the circus that is X-feckers and I loathe myself for it but as bland, smug and mediocre as it is once it's I'll have forgotten it as I do eaten bread. |

Posted - 11/09/2009 : 09:49:56 You're right about Cowell being spineless -- he obviously wants to keep Jedward as they are good publicity (and they are less competition for his acts). However, I'm glad they are still there -- they are likeable and entertaining, and they subvert what is only a silly competition. I'm not much into music, but in so far as I am, I don't think it makes any difference who wins The X Factor. I'd rather the twins won than someone like Her Royal Blandness Leona Lewis. |
