Okay, duelling characters in a fight to the death (e.g.: Superman versus Batman?? Answer: Superman)

Remember, the rule is that you can only use the character, not the actor.

Okay,here goes:

Miles (Paul Giamatti) from Sideways

versus

William H Macy's character from Fargo?

I think Miles would win.

How about:

Harry Potter

vs

Kevin, from Home Alone (Macaulay Culkin)

I think Harry Potter would win (at least I hope so!!)

Back to Fargo:

Steve Buscemi in Fargo or Steve Buscemi in Reservoir Dogs?

Definitely "Dogs". It's not that someone oughta kill Steve Buscemi, it's just that someone oughta mess with his face. It could only be an improvement. (Ever heard the term "A face for radio"? Yeeeeesh!)

Anywhich:

Young Capt. James T. Kirk (original series age) vs. Will Ryker?

Will Ryker because he's ruthless.
EDIT: benj's post has inspired me. James T. Kirk vs Will Ryker in a bar room brawl over the amorous attentions of an oozy-skinned hideously hot pink colored alien female(?). (Either one of those guys will fuck anything.)

Both men are known to be devious and cunning. Will once took charge of a Klingon ship by guile, and James Kirk cheated his way to an 'A' on a Star Fleet Academy test (he changed the test to allow for a solution to the problem and was lauded for his creativity). Geez I just realized that I know an alarming amount of trivia about Star Trek.

In the bar room, where the alien (who resembles a giant vagina turned inside-out) has irresistably attracted both men with her musky pheramones, James typically launches into one of his typical long-winded pedantic speeches, citing freedom, capitalism, mother apple and baseball pie.

Meanwhile, Will, while pretending to be attentive to James' speech, has located the alien's 'mommy parts' and with an innocent look on his face, has already begun humping her/it.

As Will climaxes, the alien devours him. His typical Will Ryker randiness prevented him from doing the preemptive research that would have revealed that this species eats the male partner after mating.

James T. Kirk gives the alien a pedantic speech about how civilized people don't do such things and about the benefits of democracy, then takes out his phaser and vaporizes the alien.

James Kirk wins, by default.

Hmmm...didn't end the way I thought it would.
END EDIT

Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt/Fight Club) vs Frank (purple bunny/Donny Darko)

Casting aside the various instances in comic books where it's been shown how Batman could quite easily defeat Superman, wouldn't this be more fun if we explained how X would win over Y?

Easy. Y is like an incomplete X. X can carry more genetic material. People with two X's tend to live longer.

Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt/Fight Club) vs Frank (purple bunny/Donny Darko)

Frank attacks Tyler unexpectedly at a Rabbit Suit-wearer's Anonymous meeting, dealing a punishing elbow to Tyler's face, busting his sunglasses and bloodying his colourful shirt (which makes no visible difference to the pattern). Frank swings a chair at Tyler a little off-balance, missing and taking out an old woman in a pink bunny outfit who lands awkwardly on the free tuna sandwiches.

Tyler, laughing and wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth, picks himself up, takes off his shirt and kicks off his shoes and takes a running jump at Frank, kneeing him in the chest and pinning him to the ground. Frank flails punches, missing wildly because his bunny mask is at a funny angle and he can't see anything. Tyler meanwhile rips Frank's mask off by the rabbit ears and clubs him with it.

Frank knees Tyler in the family jewels, leaving him buckling over, climbs to his feet and make toward the drinks table for a bottle. Just then, Tyler grabs Frank's feet, pulling them backwards and sending him faceplanting to the ground.

Tyler wins by knockout.

I'd have to say the Mask, I don't see it being affected by the Dip.
