As a Webby judge, during the next couple of weeks I can nominate websites for this year's awards. I'll be happy to check-out your very favorites - but [for the sake of my eyes and sanity] please limit your suggestions to one each.
I'd of course be suggesting fwfr, but I won't if benj would prefer not.

I'd say not. Once again, nothing but the size of the database has changed here. If I'd rebranded or added substantial functionality I'd maybe consider it.
I do also disagree with the concept of having to *pay* for consideration for an award. There could be an absolutely amazing entertainment site out there just begging for recognition but because it doesn't have the financial backing of a big corporation to enter it in every and all applicable categories (or even just one), the likes of IMDB or Rotten Tomatoes will typically win out.
Ironically, for what is supposed to be the premier award for the Internet (something that, let us not forget, was fundamentally supposed to make everyone and all equal), it's far from an even playing field  |

In principle I totally agree, benj, which is why I've been pushing for a new category for years - one which is specifically for non-sponsored sites. I will keep trying. 
At the moment, there are a few categories which ease the entry-fee burden ... I can't think of very many awards schemes with ceremonies or prizes, etc which don't charge an entry fee -- I'm hopeful that as the Webbies continues to be more and more well-regarded internationally that it might get picked up by a major corporate sponsor.
The BAFTAs works that way now, as does the Edinburgh Comedy Awards and the Booker Prize - but they couldn't when they started out.

Well, my suggestion would be to split the Webbies right down the middle.
For every category there should be both a corporately funded website award and an individually funded website award. The latter would be free to enter, and the former could have it's entry fee doubled (frankly, the �80 or whatever entry fee that currently stands is so trivial to a company big or small that it's almost laughable). |

I prefer http://www.skyscanner.net/ to that - it has a lot of flexibility over where and when. |

| http://www.bookcrossing.com/ is a really nice concept, but then it's more the concept than the website which matters - although it has got quite a community and one can track books etc. |

SkyScanners just came out top in my quick test. We're wondering whether it would be feasible to holiday in the Philippines next summer. Air Ninja couldn't offer any budget flights to Manila, and when I tried the non-budget alternative it offered prices in US dollars. However, SkyScanners offered several possibilities, with prices in sterling. It got marks for convenience when I found that sites to which it linked already had my chosen travel dates etc noted. You know how tedious it is to keep having to enter the dates, destinations and number of travellers. |

Funny thing about this site, Sal - when I first clicked on it, it was all in Russian, and when I changed it over to English, it already knew (obviously from my ISP) that my location was Israel. I guess it figured the second language of Israel is Russian, due to the huge numbers of immigrants from there we've had over the past decade or so. |
