I just saw this at Boing, Boing and instantly thought of y'all. It's pretty neat. Height is weekly box office revenue, and the longer the movie stays at the b.o. the longer it stays on the graph. Search for 'Titanic,' just for grins.

You might also have noticed that the flows get a lot bigger as you move forward in time, even though the numbers are adjusted for inflation. Strange. I wonder why that is. The actual numbers, however, aren't really the point of interest though. It's the patterns, uh, ebb and flow that are important which is made evident by the exclusion of concrete figures for each movie.

I guess that is because the trend in the last 5-10 years has been to release the film on as many screens as possible and advance the release to home video markets. Probably the statistics should be adjusted for a per screen average?
