Posted - 12/14/2007 : 15:20:04 Tsk... it seems no sooner does this cinema (one of my personal favourites) get lauded as one of the 10 best cinemas in the UK, they've cranked the prices waaaaaay up. 13.50 ($27) to see a film now??? (Not sure if it's related, but I heard Odeon were going to buy them out)
Anyway... can anyone tell me... am I remembering the Empire through rose-tinted spectacles (this is the first time I've been since May) or have they also added two or three more rows of seats at the front? I could swear there used to be so much more space between the front row and the massive screen- now I actually have to look up! Not pleased |

Posted - 12/14/2007 : 16:08:22 Yep, it's very small - though not quite like the Odeon Mezzanine screens! I just went there because it seemed to be the only place showing that Simon Pegg/David Schwimmer film, whatever it was called. It was around this time last year when I wanted to reach 100 for the year (which I did by the end of April this time ). |

Can't help you on that one. I've only been in Screen 3 in that cinema. (Did not get around to going when it would have been free.)
Yikes! Screen 3. That's the broom closet on the right at the top of stairs, isn't it? |

When Odeon and U.C.I. merged, I thought that was one they legally had to let go because of owning about ten cinemas within about three metres of each other.
I wondered about that, since this would mean they 'owned' three of the four sides of Leicester Square. Bit of a monopoly and all that.
What about the seats though? Am I imagining they've put a few more rows in? It's driving me nuts trying to figure out what's changed. |
