[Apparently, I still cannot upload avatar or change description, but it doesn't get more 80s that the spud boys themselves: DEVO]

God made man,
but he used a monkey to do it.
Apes in the plan,
and we're all here to prove it.

I can walk like an ape,
talk like an ape,
I can do what the monkeys do;

God made man,
but a monkey supplied the glue.

Are we not men: we are DEVO!

I changed my Av. Its one of the catch phrases of the 1980's created by one Bobby Mcferrin.

Have any of you lot with avatar problems tried posting it as a BMP file? Not a format I normally use but it's the ONLY one which I can ever get accepted at FWFR so animated GIFS are way out of reach for me. I got in quite early with my new avvy so it's possible Benj is still tinkering under the bonnet/hood/hat/berret.

The observant amongst you will notice that Willy is wearing Oxblood red 18-hole Doc Martens, a footwear which punks shared with the skinheads. Those were the days when only fascist thugs, death row prisoners, Buddhists and Kojak had completely shaved heads though rarely all seen together on the same bus.

Obviously new avatars can be submitted as soon as the new chooser has submitted their subject/new avatar. How do we know when to start voting? Is there a set number of days to the deadline and if so what time GMT please?

Who can forget the moment, in April 1981, when the men of Bucks Fizz ripped off the skirts of the girls to reveal...

...slightly shorter skirts.

Since then, of course, the Eurovision Song Contest has become a world-renowned celebration of the very best of contemporary classical music. (If only Beethoven were alive today.)

The timeline for the avatar contest is the same as the Tasteless Obits and Porn Titles.

New contest starts late Wed. to Fri. depending on when the new topic is posted.

Entries usually submitted by Mon. although later entries are certainly valid. Also on Mon. I usually upload the avatars that haven't found their way into the gallery by that point.

Voting generally starts on Tues.

Deadline for votes is 9PM FWFT on Wed. (That's 3PM CST for us Yanks)

I often send out voting reminders to entrants I haven't heard from a few hours before the deadline.

Results are usually posted withing a few hours of the deadline, an exception being times when I have a tie for first that I'm waiting to be broken.

Did I cover it all?

An avatar could involve penguins, or cheese... or anything else.
