This picture was taken when I was in high school and I joined the Backpacking Club. The sun and silouhettes (sp?) were perfect and somebody took this picture of two of my friends "shooting" each other with their fingers.

Good choice, Titanpa! I can't seem to draw on any inspiration, yet.

Life drawing classes are a wonderful way to acquire a new artistic skill. But there's always a suspicion that some people are just there to see a model in the buff.

Reminds me of when I was in art school. One day in the hall, I passed 2 men who appeared to be visiting businessmen/vendor types. They were ogling the figure drawings that were posted on the wall and saying things like, "How can they keep their minds on drawing?"

EDIT: With my flair for dramatic acting, I'm surprised that I didn't go up to the men and say, "Oh, they don't! Figure drawing class is just a huge orgy!"

I thought those guys were real stupid jackasses.

Back in the 60's, the Topeka zoo had a young orangutan named Jakarta Jim. They wanted to procure a mate for him. They learned of a children's art contest that offered a substantial cash prize.

So, they set Jim up to do some painting then sent one his paintings, titled "Fast Train to Tokyo" to the contest. Jim was, after all, a child. Nothing in the rules said the children had to be human.

The judges loved his painting and it won. With the funds, the zoo got Jim a friend, Tiffany.

They used to have the painting on display at the zoo but no longer. I don't know what happened to it. I can't even find any information about it on the internet.

So, I've substituted this lovely Reuters news photo of an orangutan seriously absorbed in drawing.

There hasn't been a Draw! in this contest ever - there's always a winner.

Maybe you had a similar av for Cartoon Hero or Wild West or Dressed Up Animals? We've done Art but not Draw!
