are covered in posters! Every square inch! Where the hell do they get the money for all those posters?? I didn't cover my room with posters when I was a kid, because I didn't have the money, and even if I did, I wouldn't have spent on freaking posters!

I did.

I had Farrah (you know the one), "Beer Busts are Better," Zeppelin, Ziggy, Dallas Cowboys (they were free at McDonalds, back when Staubach was taking them to Super Bowls, of course I lived in Dallas)

But I couldn't waste my money on MP3s back then, and it was only three bucks to see a first run movie, gas hadn't hit a dollar a gallon yet, and I think pot was a lot cheaper (haven't checked lately to know for sure)

Like most red-blooded American kids, I stole every poster I could get my hands on, including various construction and traffic signs (including my pride and joy "Railroad Crossing," which took me a long time to unscrew from a pretty high pole). I also drew up some of my own, and I cut pictures out of magazines (that I stole -- and i stole a LOT of em!).

I covered every square inch of at least one wall (over time), as I shared a room with siblings.

Unlike me, you must have had parentall supervision.

I didn't steal but I did have a few:

Justification for a Higher Education" with a garage filled with sports cars. I also had Belinda Carlisle from her first solo effort, and a Michael Jordan poster. So not plastered, but a few here and there.

Yeah my room was pretty much the same, although I admit that I finally stopped stealing road signs when I found out that the special reflective ones cost something like $1200. I went to a lot of punk and hardcore shows so I just grabbed the posters and fliers stapled to the venue walls.

Boys! Really.

As a kid I wasn't allowed to put posters up on the wall. Didn't have much wall space anyway. But we did each get our own cork bulletin boards. Mine I filled mostly with pictures of (okay, so I was a very unusual kid) the original star of "Dark Shadows"...

Jonathan Frid

as well as (like many, many girls my age)...

Davey Jones!

I cannot really remember having many posters as a non-adult teenager: as a child I had animal ones all over, and as a student I had all the typical films and pre-Raphaelite prints. I didn't get much pocket money, compared to what they get now, and was always slightly in the red to my parents, so I suppose poster-buying wasn't much of a priority for spending not-yet-due money on.

In my day, it was commonplace for full size posters to be included with major album releases. We're talking early 70's and I particularly remember Pink Floyd, Alice Cooper & Wings all including one or even two posters per album.

I attempted to cover inch of my room in Beatles posters, as I was such a Fab Fournatic (now I've converted to Film Review Fournaticism). I still have the posters, but haven't got a room where I can get away with putting them up.

As I recall they pretty much ran me $5 or $6 bucks apiece, so yes, I blew a fair amount of cash on the effort.

My dream is (or was) to have a room covered with maps. I am always buying maps. However, this was duplicated by a not wholly sympathetic character in We Need to Talk About Kevin, so it has been somewhat sullied.

I had this one on the wall. I remember my Grandfather seeing it for the first time, and watching his eyes light up. So I bought him a copy.

Okay, just to further our trip down memory lane, here's what my Farrah poster looked like.

Wearing her T-shirt would get you suspended from my school. They were afraid of us sliding (further) into moral depravity.

Talking of iconic 1980s posters, I wonder whether it worked out better for her than for him.

Even I'm offended by that grammar, so Salopian is probably having a fit!
